On Wednesday, March 13, the Embassy of Armenia at the historic mansion of Lazarev family hosted a closed show of the new Fall/Winter 2019-20 collection of the British Basharatyan V brand.
Since the brand was founded in London in 2010 spring/summer and fall/winter collections have been traditionally shown during Milan and London fashion weeks. Today Basharatyan V clothes are worn by Jessie J, Nicole Scherzinger, Barbara Streisand, Ornella Muti, and other celebrities.
To create each collection the designer draws inspiration from travelling around the globe. The country that inspired the new FW 2019-20 collection was Armenia.
By getting closer to her ethnic roots the designer got inspired by the immense beauty of the mountains, traditions of the sunny land, its warmth, the hospitality of its people, and their wonderful culture. All of this is reflected in the original prints made with the aid of the latest technologies. An original view of Armenian landscapes and symbols are at the center of the new collection.
The collection contains elements finished in signature red which has migrated from one collection to another and gained the appeal of the public. Main fabrics of the collection are silk, cashmere, wool, and viscose.
The event was attended by Veronica Basharatyan herself, Diana Gianelli, Rita Mitrofanova, Zhanna Epple, Aya from Gorod 312 band, Evelina Bledans, Viktoria Berman, Ekaterina Drobysh, Alena Litkovets, spouse of the Ambasssador of The Philippines Maria Sorreta, spouse of the Ambassador of Armenia, head of Moscow State University of Design and Technology Valery Belgorodsky state functionary Sergey Mndoyants, political scientist Andranik Migranyan, and others.
The guests were offered authentic wines from Alianta Group’s cellars and Ararat brandy. The Embassy’s luxurious hall hosted an exhibition of the modern Armenian artist Mikhail Tolpygo-Mndoyan whose works have been purchased by collectors from Russia, Germany, Spain, Belgium, France, and Mexico. The style of the paintings has been attracting designers and art curators of several museums in Europe and North America.
