On July 15, the Spotify music service officially launched in Russia. Also, the service became available for citizens of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and North Macedonia.
According to official information, the Spotify application was supposed to appear on the Russian market back in 2014. However, the Swedish company could not come to a mutually beneficial agreement with MTS, which was supposed to provide support for the launch of the service in Russia.
It is also worth noting that at the time of Spotify’s appearance on the Russian market, many analog music services appeared in Russia: such services as Apple Music, Google Play Music, Yandex.Music, and BOOM from Mail.ru operate in the Russian Federation. Group, which raises concerns among the expert community regarding the successful promotion of Spotify.
Despite the expert opinion, the Spotify music service has many fans in Russia. At the moment, you can subscribe to a Premium subscription on the site, which turns off ads when listening to music, and also allows you to listen to your favorite songs offline for 169 rubles per month.
