Paris Fashion Week starts with historic shows, and the house decided to recall Yves Saint Laurent’s genius.
Saint Laurent show looked like something between an open air show and a rock concert. The stadium built next to the Eiffel Tower included powerful floodlights beaming to the sky while the guests who hadn’t made it to the venue gathered on the rooftops of nearby buildings to catch a glimpse of the models.
Anthony Vacarello decided to recall Yves Saint Laurent’s heritage. The catwalk showcased the revisited Le Smoking, references to the famous Russian Collection, blacked out glasses like those Betty Catroux used to wear, the great designer’s muses, and the hippie glamour brought over by the 70’s street fashion. The brand’s classic conservative total black was complemented by more delicate fabrics and silhouettes, chiffon blouses and dresses, and golden lame dresses. High boots with wide pleated shafts made their return to the catwalk.
The front row where faithful Saint Laurent-loving celebrities dressed in all black sat down was arguably just as bright as the catwalk.
