As Tokyo gets ready for Chanel Mademoiselle Privé, the iconic house published a video collage made by Sofia Coppola. The homage to Chanel’s history contains archive photographs and films, advertising posters and TV commercials made throughout the years. The most iconic instances include haute couture shows, jewels, high jewelry watches, and No.5. Coppola explained her decision as follows, ‘I did a collage from the Chanel archives, trying to capture the essence of Chanel, what Coco started and Karl and Virginie have continued’. ‘Chanel embodies chic Parisian style and I tried to incorporate the playfulness Karl always brought to his approach’, the director added

Sofia Coppola was an intern at Chanel in her teenage years after French actress Carole Bouquet had introduced her to Karl Lagerfeld. Back then, young Sofia was amazed by the designer’s style and the costumes he made for her father’s “Life without Zoё”. This period greatly influenced Sofia’s individual style, her understanding of fashion trends, and the refined visual concepts of her films. The film titled “In Homage to Mademoiselle” is a great product by the creative duo of Sofia Coppola and Virginie Viard who has just recently presented her own collection of women’s clothes.
