On May 30 the renewed Chanel J12 watch was presented at Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
The philosophy of the new version of J12 is as follows: a second might change the fate. To speak about it Chanel opened a special exhibition titled “The Decisive Seconds” which took place at the MMOMA’s educational centre in Ermolayevsky Sidestreet between May 31 and June 11. The guests were greeted by the museum director Zurab Tsereteli and representatives of house Chanel.
Two halls of the exhibition were dedicated to the history of J12: within the project the programme included speeches by artists, architects, scientists, cinematographers, and people working in other spheres who told about how a single second changed their lives. The 4th floor of the MMOMA building housed a space that reflected the whole essence of the new watch. In the hall there were pools with sailboats which inspired the name of the model. The screens showed black-and-white photographs of house — Chanel, Ali MacGraw, Keira Knightley, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose Depp, Carol Bouquet, Anna Mougalis, and Liu Wen — by Brigitte Lacombe. The project was complemented by a work from MMOMA’s “Mechanisms of Time” collection by Armand Pierre Fernandez, a great example of Armand’s “accumulations” where multitudes of homogenous objects unite into a single item.
The night concluded with a performance by Anika who had recently joined Gazgolder record label.
The event was attended by Ravshana Kurkova, Svetlana Bondarchuk, Olga Zuyeva, Aleksandra Revenko, Olga Karput, Vika Gazinskaya, Musya Totibadze, Oksana Ponomaryova, and other guests.
Till the closure of the exhibition on June 10 the watch was available at the house’s pop-up boutique in Malaya Bronnaya Street and later moved to all Chanel’s boutiques.
