The traditional event was dedicated to the problems of the global oceans.
On July 26 Sporting Monte-Carlo’s Salle des Étoiles held the Monaco Red Cross Gala Ball. The event was dedicated to the global ocean, that is why Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer decorated the space with waves of 25,000 colours. The main shade of the night was coral. This way the managers drew attention to environmental protection and the need to preserve marine plants and wildlife.
This summer was a wedding season for Monaco’s royal family. On June 1 Princess Charlotte Casiraghi married Dimitri Rassam while on June 27 Louis Ducruet, son of Princess Stéphanie, had his ceremony. Red Cross Gala Ball was the pinnacle of the summer season. Following the tradition the opening was announced by the hosts, Prince Albert II and his wife Charlene. The Princess looked fabulous in a green cape dress by Marchese Notte.
At the hall of Sporting Monte-Carlo the guests could admire the “Red Vulcano” painting by Marcello Lo Giudice. Grammy-awarded signer, actor, and composer John Legend was the guest star of the night. His performance was continued by Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, Prime Circle rock band, and stars of country music MamaDear. The charity lottery was just as entertaining. The lots included Piguet watches, a bracelet and a ring by Repossi, an electricity-powered Smart car, a silk dress by Isabell Kristensen, a sea cruise for two, 8 invitations to Monaco Red Cross Gala Ball 2020, and 2 VIP tickets to Formula E races in London. The night ended with a firework show.
The first Red Cross gala was held 71 years ago to raise awareness about the organization’s activity and thank all of those who support it. Throughout the years the ball had only three presidents: before 1958 the event was headed by Rainier III; later he handed over the reigns to his wife Grace Kelly. Since her tragic passing in 1982 the mission has been manned by her son Albert II.
