Broadway League closed theaters in March 2020, initially planning to open them at the end of the year. However, Broadway officials said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, theaters would not be open to viewers until the end of May 2021.
Despite the closure of Broadway, the theater industry plans to host the annual Tony Awards soon, announcing the nominees next week.
