In Spijkenisse, a city near Rotterdam, a sculpture prevented a subway train from crashing.
According to official information, the train driver lost control, causing the train to derail and fly out of the station. However, a sculpture by architect and artist Maarten Struijs saved the train from falling – the train caught on to an art object in the shape of the tails of two whales and hung in the air.
At the time of the accident, there were no passengers on the train, and the driver himself was able to leave the train on his own, but still, he was taken to the hospital.
