COVID-19 has made adjustments to the watch industry. At the beginning of 2020, two iconic fairs were to be held in Switzerland: SIHH and Baselworld. However, due to the pandemic, Baselworld was canceled this year, and SIHH organizers decided to rebrand the exhibition and open it on the online platform. A new project called Watches and Wonders has opened its virtual doors to all fans of watchmaking.
The editors of Beautiful Lifestyle magazine prepared a list of 10 new timepieces presented at the fair, which are worth paying attention to.
1. Ronde Louis Cartier Straw and Gold Marquetry Watch
Cartier introduced a new watch, the dial of which is made using the marquetry craftsman technique combining straw and gold. This technique brings volume to the watch and creates the illusion of a bas-relief.
2. Les Cabinotiers – The singing birds
Vacheron Constantin has released a sophisticated series of 4 timepieces called “The Singing Birds.” Realistic images of birds were applied to the dial using the champleve enameling technique. Each watch is complemented by an alligator leather strap.
3. Arceau Cheval Cosmique
The classic Arceau watch has been re-launched by Hermès. The graceful silhouette of a horse and waves made of 18-carat white gold adorn the adventurous dial.
4. Zeitwerk Minute Repeater
A new watch from A. Lange & Söhne is released in a limited edition of 30 pieces. The dark blue dial is framed by a case made of white gold. This exclusive timepiece is only available for purchase at A. Lange & Söhne boutiques.
5. Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon Chronograph
The new Vacheron Constantin timepiece showcases the best traditions of Swiss watchmaking. The watch has a chronograph and is also equipped with a tourbillon, which immediately attracts anyone’s attention.
6. IWC Portugieser Tourbillon Rétrograde Chronograph
IWC introduced a new timepiece with a chronograph, tourbillon, and retrograde date display. The blue dial is framed in a case made of Armor Gold. You can purchase this watch in the official IWC boutique.
7. Panerai Luminor Marina DMLS Titanium 44mm PAM1662
The monochrome minimalistic timepiece presented by Luminor is made of titanium and carbon composite Carbotech. The watch is also water-resistant up to 300 meters.
8. Roger Dubuis Excalibur Diabolis In Machina
This unique timepiece is a one-of-a-kind piece from the Excalibur collection. The watch case is made of wear-resistant metal; the strap is made of calf leather and has a titanium triple-folding buckle. The price of this exquisite timepiece is $571,000.
9. Maillon de Cartier
The exquisite new Cartier timepiece is nonetheless a bracelet watch. The strap is made of 18-carat gold. This classic watch combines sophistication and functionality at the same time.
