The editors of Beautiful Lifestyle magazine are going to tell you about the Snow Polo World Cup, an exciting annual sporting event which is organized in St.Moritz.
When it comes to polo, we usually imagine English landscapes, fancy lords, trying to beat each other on the field, their companions, who playfully but elegantly trample the grass between the chuckers (periods).
But the polo in the Swiss ski resort of St. Moritz is different. Every year, since 1985, the high society comes to Switzerland to see the World Snow Polo Championship. But instead of the usual field there is a frozen lake. The elegant dresses are replaced with fur coats and designer warm jackets. But you can still feel the luxurious atmosphere in the air: during the game, chefs prepare gourmet dishes, and waiters gallantly offer a glass of exquisite Perrier-Jouët.
In 2020, the championship was held from January 24 to January 26 and over 18,000 spectators have come to watch and support the teams. The championship was sponsored by St. Moritz, Maserati, Badrutt’s Palace Hotel and Azerbaijan Land of Fire. 4 teams consisted of highly qualified and well-known athletes. They represented these companies and fought for the coveted trophy from Cartier. With a margin of 3 goals, St. Moritz won the World Cup for the first time in history.
Each evening the guests can have a great time and relax at gala dinners, cocktail parties and private parties at Badrutt’s Palace, which are organized in the resort in honor of the championship.
In 2021, the resort of St. Moritz invites its guests to the 37th snow polo championship, which will be held from January 29 to January 31. Tickets for the event can be purchased on the official website.
