The singer has produced an entire album recorded for the iconic movie. Her song titled Spirit is included in the official score alongside African melodis and Elton John’s songs.
Beyoncé who voices Nala the lioness in the movie personally picked musicians and producers to work on The Lion King: The Gift album. Announcing the new release the singer referred to it as “a love letter to Africa” and pointed out that each song speaks about the movie plot and helps the listeners make up their own images.
The video for Spirt which was released prior to the album mixes movie frames are interspersed with dance sequences shot at the Grand Canyon and Havasu waterfall in Arizona. The singer’s daughter, Blue Ivy, took part in the video. She also accompanied her mother at the movie premiere at the Dolby theatre in Los Angeles. Beyoncé who is known for her flamboyant fashionable looks chose twin crystal-studded dresses by Alexander McQueen which were the brightest things of the event.
The album was released alongside the movie, on July 19. The Russian premiere of the dubbed version hit the cinemas a day earlier.
