Beyoncé’s earrings from ‘Soul’ video were sold for $20,000 at the auction held to support the organization.
On July 27 the DesignCare charity night held by HollyRod foundation became “adult”. The 21st party was hosted by the founder, actress Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, NFL player Rodney Peete.
The guests of Saddlerock ranch in Malibu, CA, could take part in an auction offering sporting memorabilia, Smokey the bulldog pup, the first pitch at a New York Yankees game, and participation in a pre-game strategy talk with LA Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. The most expensive offering of the auction was the earrings worn by Beyoncé in the video for ‘Soul’ recorded for the recent remake of The Lion King. NBA legend Magic Johnson gave no chances to other participants by bidding $10,000 and quickly doubling the bid.
Apart from the auction the ranch hosted a gala show while stars posed for souvenir photos. Pamella Roland showcased the newest fashion trends while Cameo and the star of America’s Got Talent Kodi Lee performed on the stage. After the award ceremony the stars told touching stories of their friends and relatives with Parkinson’s disease and autism spectrum disorders. Laila Ali told the story of her father Mohammad Ali, and Eva Longoria told about her older sister Lisa who lives a full-scale life thanks to her despite the doctors having said she would never walk or speak.
The event in Malibu was visited by Eva Longoria, Gabrielle Union, Eva LaRue, Alex Meneses, Nika King, Yvette Nicole Brown, Candace Cameron Bure, Essence Atkins, Skai Jackson, Charlotte Ross, Emma Fuhrmann, Vanessa Williams, former boxer Laila Ali, Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles Lawson with her husband Richard Lawson.
Including the funds raised at the auction, sponsorship, and additional donations the event raised around $700,000. All proceeds will be used for charity purposes.
