New York is gradually returning to cultural life: museums and galleries begin to open in the city. The Governor of New York State said at a press conference that cultural institutions might reopen from August 24.

We’re almost back! We're excited about Governor Cuomo's announcement today that museums and cultural institutions in New York may safely reopen later this month. Stay tuned for more details about the Whitney’s reopening plans, including exhibitions on view, ticketing, and, most importantly, the safety precautions we're implementing to put the health of visitors and staff first. After the Governor’s statement, the Metropolitan Museum of Art administration announced the preliminary date of the museum opening – it will be August 29. Following him, the Whitney Museum of American Art announced that it would open its doors to visitors on September 3.
