At an auction in Geneva, organized by Sotheby’s, the largest purple-pink diamond of 14.8 carats ‘The Spirit of the Rose’ was sold on Wednesday for $26.6 million. The largest Russian diamond mining company Alrosa mined the diamond in Yakutia.
The diamond got its name in honor of Mikhail Fokine’s ballet, The Spirit of the Rose.
The buyer of the diamond wished to remain anonymous.
